Effective date: August 18, 2026 (previous version: June 16, 2026) Operator: FOIL.TOOLS LLC Mailing address: PO Box 119, Husum, WA 98623 Contact: [email protected]
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of the Terms of Service. It defines uses that are prohibited on foil.tools (the "Service"). We may update it as needed.
1. Prohibited end-uses
You may not use the Service, its API, its MCP interface, or any output, in connection with:
- the design, development, testing, production, or deployment of weapons, munitions, or military ordnance;
- missiles, rockets, or guided weapons, or systems controlled under the Missile Technology Control Regime;
- military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones), loitering munitions, or "one-way attack" drones, or components thereof;
- nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons or their delivery systems;
- any activity that would require an export license you do not hold, or that violates U.S. export-control law (the Export Administration Regulations and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations).
The Service is intended for research, education, hobbyist, academic, and lawful civil/commercial engineering use only.
2. Prohibited end-users and jurisdictions
You may not access or use the Service if you are:
- located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing from a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction (including, without limitation, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine), or any jurisdiction we designate to comply with applicable sanctions;
- identified on any U.S. government restricted-party list, including the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) and blocked-persons lists, the BIS Denied Persons / Entity List, or comparable lists;
- acting on behalf of any of the above.
We employ technical measures (including geographic and network-based blocking) to enforce this and may add jurisdictions or controls at any time.
3. Prohibited conduct
You may not:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others' rights;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent geographic blocks, sign-in requirements, quotas, rate limits, credit metering, or other access controls (including via proxies/VPNs to evade sanctions blocks);
- access the Service through unauthorized means, or attack, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data, or use automated access, except as expressly permitted by the published API terms and rate limits;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or bulk data without authorization;
- misrepresent your identity, location, or eligibility, or share/transfer API keys or credits in violation of the Terms.
3a. Community conduct
The community area lets you publish designs and discuss them. Everything in §3 applies there. In addition, when publishing or commenting you may not:
- harass, threaten, demean, or personally attack anyone, or post hate speech;
- post spam, advertising, or repetitive promotional content;
- publish a design, write-up, image, or other content you do not have the rights to publish, including passing off someone else's design as your own;
- publish sexual, violent, or otherwise off-topic content;
- impersonate another person, or misrepresent a design's provenance, testing, or performance;
- publish someone's private information, or evade a removal or a publishing ban.
Attribution matters here. If you fork or build on another user's open design, leave the Service's link to the original in place.
We may remove any published content, hide it pending review, and revoke your ability to publish, with or without notice.
3b. Automated screening
Comments are screened automatically, in two stages, and the timing differs:
- When you post, a quick check runs immediately. A comment containing several links is flagged for a person to look at, and stays visible in the meantime. This check can never hide anything on its own.
- Within a few hours, a fuller automated check runs. If it judges a comment to be spam, harassment, sexual content, or unlawful material, the comment is hidden at that point.
This means a comment can be visible for a while before it is hidden. We would rather say so than imply screening is instant. Nothing is deleted — a hidden comment can be restored.
Automated screening is imperfect and gets things wrong in both directions.
Blunt technical criticism is expressly allowed here. Saying a design is bad, that its numbers are wrong, that a method is unsound, or disagreeing forcefully with its author, is ordinary peer review on a site like this one — not harassment, and not a violation of this policy. If a comment of that kind is hidden, that is our mistake, not your violation.
If your content was hidden and you believe that is wrong, email [email protected]. A person will look at it, and we can put it back. We record the outcome of every automated check — the decision, the reason, and which check made it — so a wrong one can be found and reversed.
A report from another user is not a verdict either: reported content is reviewed by a person, not removed automatically on the strength of a report.
4. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may, without notice, refuse, throttle, challenge, suspend, or terminate access, block traffic, revoke API keys, forfeit credits, and report unlawful activity to authorities. We maintain logs (including IP addresses) for security and compliance as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Reporting
Report suspected misuse to [email protected].
